For Onyx was originally created in 7 days for Brackeys Game Jam 14. We later discovered Magical Girl Jam and are excited to share it here as well, since its themes fit perfectly.
When your dying dog is all you have left, how far would you go for one last treat? Luna breaks into an abandoned home as Shadows close in, racing against time to find biscuits for her beloved Onyx who's slowly becoming something else...
How To Win
Once Dusk begins, the Shadows will come to hunt. Survive until Dawn to get Onyx his final treat π₯Ί

Summoning Circle

At the heart of the house lies a summoning circle, a place of power where Luna can prepare spells and gather items before Dusk begins.
Summoning Circles spawn randomly around the house thrice per night. Be alert for its distinct flash of light and accompanying hum.
Discover Biscuits
Sometimes you can find stale treats underneath furniture! Walk over a biscuit to refill your Magic.

Controls
We didn't get to our tutorial scene in time π So, below you can find all of the controls in the game.
Movement
Move Luna by using these keys on your keyboard:
W β to move forward
A β to move left
S β to move backward
D β to move right
Telekinesis
Telekinesis can be used to move furniture. Furniture slows the Shadows!
Click on a nearby furniture object once to lift it.
Click again to place it.

But remember, telekinesis drains Magic slowly.

Cast Spells
Spells affect the Shadow's movements. Some spells slow them down, others will lure them to other locations.
Click on an icon in the HUD to ready a spell.

Click on the map to place it.

Right-Click if you want to cancel the spell selection.

I think this was crazy good. Maybe you could've given the player more powers each night to play around with and add some more sounds but overall really enjoyable.
I love the unique gameplay mechanic. Surprisingly, I intuitively grasped it without any effort! Appreciate the artwork and the spookiness.

Well, I found this while going through the submission
Such a fun game to play, the levitating mechanic was super unique and really easy to get a grasp on. I love how almost every game is different in terms of what options become available when you get to the summoning circle. Overall, I had a blast and would play again. I plan on playing it a bunch more to beat it when I have more time. Thank you for making this game!

Absolutely loved it! The gameplay is fantastic and SUPER creative, I could see this becoming a commercial game.
I do think that the faster magic regeneration power up is a bit overpowered, because you can then spam spells.
Other than that, the art is amazing, the game looks super polished and it's a very enjoyable experience.
